GROSS CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT & ELIGIBILITY:

  • 36 holes; modified Pinehurst/Chapman stroke play.
  • Two-person teams (one male and one female) will represent each side.
  • Teams will be placed into two flights after entries close based on the team’s combined age.
  • Day 1: Scramble Format - After each shot, the better of the two players’ shots is selected, and both players will play from that spot until the ball is holed. Each player must use six (6) drives. One team score is recorded for each hole.
  • Day 2: Chapman Format - Both players on a team hit tee shots, and then play a second shot using their partner’s tee shot location.  After both players' second shots, the team must select one ball to finish the hole, playing alternately until the ball is holed.
  • The team score will be the combined gross score from both days of competition.

The gross championship is open to two-person teams (one male and one female) with both players being amateurs who are members of a current SCGA member club (not necessarily the same club), and each person with a Handicap Index of 14.4 or less at the time of registration.

  • Day 1: Scramble Format - After each shot, the better of the two players’ shots is selected, and both players will play from that spot until the ball is holed. Each player must use six (6) drives. One team score is recorded for each hole.
  • The team Playing Handicap used for the Scramble will be determined based on 35% of the low Course Handicap + 15% of the high Course Handicap.
  • Day 2: Chapman Format - Both players on a team hit tee shots, and then play a second shot using their partner’s tee shot location.  After both players' second shots, the team must select one ball to finish the hole, playing alternately until the ball is holed.

  • The SCGA Championship & Golf Operations Committee reserves the right to adjust a player’s and/or a team’s course handicap at any time before or during the competition.
